At first glance, it seems to me to have echoes of the beginnings of Joyce's Finnegans Wake and, especially, Cormac McCarthy's Suttree, of which we know DFW was a fan.

Thanks for the note, Frank. It's sad to think he won't be around to do in-depth interviews about the new book. I've never even attempted Infinite Jest (stick pecking away at the stories), but interviews like this one
